Bomb scare on Dutch train, hundreds evacuated

Tuesday, 09 February 2010

AMSTERDAM (AP) — Dutch police say they have evacuated hundreds of passengers from a train and cleared the station where it was stopped after witnesses reported a man threatened to blow it up.

Spokeswoman Marika Stewart says the man has been taken into custody from the station in Den Bosch, and investigators with dogs are searching the train. So far no explosives have been found.

The NOS broadcaster quoted witnesses as saying the man shouted "God is great," and said he had a bomb, although none could be seen.

Early reports Tuesday said a bomb had been found but Stewart said that was incorrect.

No information about the suspect's identity is available.
