Gordon Brown loves his 'Tractor Stats'

Tuesday, 09 March 2010

Ten years ago 70,000 days were lost across the public sector due to strikes.

Last year that figure was 353,000, a five fold increase. With 270,000 on strike yesterday that number will probably reach a million this year.

Magic, though I don't suppose Brown will be trumpeting these figures at PMQs on Wednesday.

With Labour looking the likely next Government, and it has to be said that this is mostly due to gerrymandering, it looks like Brown and Labour will have to face the consequences of their policies over the last thirteen years. Given the relatively small cuts made so far to keep the public sector electorate onside one can only imagine what will happen after the election when the real cutting begins.

There is an alternative, keep spending and have the international markets declare Britain bust and watch Labour go grovelling to the IMF, again. The only blame they'll be able to attach to the Tories will be that Cameron was more useless than Brown.

Expect a rerun of The Winter of Discontent
